Wombat

At just 23 years of age, Wombat has accrued more than twelve million YouTube views, and twenty million Spotify streams. The Glenorchy-born emcee has built a name for himself at home in Australia, with his clever wordplay and inimitable ability to deliver his very own style of fierce and explosive grime, drawing some comparisons to the likes of UK heavyweights such as Devlin and Ghetts.

In 2018, the Tasmanian grime MC picked things up a gear and unleashed his break-out singles; Black Sheep, Gassed Up and When Words Fail, Music Speaks, which have accrued tens of millions of streams since their release.

2019 saw Wombat hit the road and establish himself as a touring artist. Firstly in March/April for a sold-out tour in support of Chillinit, then again in November for his debut headline tour which saw Wombat sell out multiple shows in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne & Hobart.

Across the years, Wombat played shows alongside Nerve, Alex Jones, Nter, OneFour, Mitchos Da Menace, Posseshot, Shadow, Lil Sknow and more.

2020 was a year of setbacks for many... for Wombat it meant cancelling tour plans, postponing releases and months of lockdown. However it wasn’t all doom and gloom for the 24 year old as he started the year by taking home the win at Australia’s first ever grime clash presented by No.One Network, 50/50 and Saintside. The hungry MC also linked up with one of his idols in Devlin for a collab and managed to release 5 singles throughout the year, all of which were trending on YouTube when they were released; Bungee Cord (#15), Adrenaline ft. Devlin (#8), Kebabs (#12), Blue Lights (#13) and Bad Words (#14).

Eager to make up for lost time in 2021, the quick-tongued lyricist hit the ground running sold-out shows at Howler, The Croxton, Brightside Outdoors, The Lansdowne Hotel, Lucy’s Love Shack and Jive Bar.

What does the future hold for the gifted MC? Well, if you are a fan of Wombat – you know just how illusive he can be with what he has on the horizon – but we can be certain of more bangers, more collaborations and more monstrous live shows! Perhaps even his debut album...
